United legend insists we’re still three players away from competing with Manchester City and Liverpool

Manchester United beat Crystal Palace 2-0 on Thursday, to extend our unbeaten run to 19 matches, and pile up the pressure on Leicester City and Chelsea in the race for Champions League football.

The Red Devils have been in top form all year, and mostly due to the signing of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon back in January.

The Portuguese has helped some of his teammates improve, as seen in Anthony Martial, who now has 22 goals across all competitions, after scoring again on Thursday, and there seems to be a sense of belief among fans that United may be back where they belong.

But Man United legend, Ryan Giggs, insists his former side isn’t yet ready to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool, until they bring in at least, three more players.

Speaking to Premier League Productions recently, the Welshman said: “I still think we’re off City and Liverpool by two or three players.

“But Ole has done really, really well in the two transfer windows he’s had.

“Good characters are coming in. You see [Bruno] Fernandes, he looks like a leader, he looks like a character. [Harry] Maguire, he’s their captain.”

Giggs continued: “It’s not just about having the players, it’s about having that culture, that character that can improve not only the starting eleven but the squad and the overall feeling around the club.

“They’re certainly moving in the right direction. But, I still believe we need three new players.”

United have been linked with players like Milan Skriniar, Kalidou Koulibaly, Raul Jimenez and Jadon Sancho, but nothing concrete has been revealed.
