Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has revealed how Manchester United rejected his request of a loan deal for youngster Mason Greenwood.
In a recent press conference, Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson admitted: “He’s [Mason Greenwood] a fantastic player.
“We’ve known about him for a while, in actual fact, we might even have enquired at the start of the season whether there was any chance of him coming out on loan.
“We received the answer: ‘No chance – because he’s one of ours’. It wasn’t a difficult spot. People all over the Premier League have realised there is a real talent on the books of Man United.
“It’s just a question of time before he gets his chance and I laud Solskjær and his coaching staff for putting him in, giving him his chance – he’s responded really well, as one would have expected him to do.
“It’s not a surprise he’s doing so well but you have to get your chance and when you’re at a big club like Man Utd you sometimes have to wait a bit longer than is absolutely necessary.
“In this instance, he hasn’t had to wait and it was the same with Marcus Rashford – he didn’t have to wait and they put him in early. As a result, they’ve found themselves with a young but very, very talented forward line.”
Greenwood has enjoyed a mind-blowing breakthrough campaign this term, scoring 16 goals in all competitions.
