Manchester United manager Olé Gunnar Solskjaer could today equal an impressive record set by legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, and his league-winning 2012/13 team, if we beat Southampton at Old Trafford.

United is currently enjoying an unbeaten run that has lasted 17 matches, and today, if we beat Southampton, we could stretch it further to 18, and match the 18 match unbeaten run set by Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2012/13.

Sir Alex’s unbeaten run was ended after 18 matches, following the 2-1 loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, but it was a fine record, and no United coach has been able to match it till date.

Of course, aside the unique chance of extending our unbeaten run to match Sir Alex’s, we also need to win so we can go into the top four, and boost our chances of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
