The race for top four will go down the wire, and it has been full of ups and downs up till this point.

Manchester United have been building momentum gradually over the months, and although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are in fifth, United have a massive chance to break into the top four for the first time.

Chelsea were well beaten by Sheffield United 3-0, and if United win our game on Monday, United will climb up to third or fourth, depending on Leicester City’s result.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was disappointed after their defeat to Sheffield United, and he admitted that it’s no longer in their hands.

Lampard said: “I’m not concerned so much about top four today.

“All I do is sit and watch all the games because of course I want to get there but today I’m concerned about how we performed. I learned a lot about that.

“I’m not thinking we might be fifth, third or fourth or whatever – we’ll see by the time those teams play.

“We cannot approach Norwich or Manchester United, Liverpool or Wolves in the same vein that we did today.”

Lampard should now think about buying one midfielder, and at least two centre backs, otherwise Chelsea might fail to compete for champions League next season
