Goalie David De Gea made history in our win over Aston Villa as he moved past Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel to become the overseas player with the most Manchester United appearances.

The Spaniard made his 399th appearance for Manchester United at Villa Park, surpassing Schmeichel who made 398 appearances for Manchester United.

De Gea still has some way to go to break the record for most games for a keeper. That is held by Alex Stepney, who made 539 appearances for United and won the European Cup in 1968.

De Gea is also way behind Ryan Giggs, the man with the most United appearances regardless of nationality. Giggs spent his entire career at Manchester United and made 963 appearances.

Meanwhile, the Red devils extended our unbeaten run to 17 games with a 3-0 win over Dean Smith’s side. The victory puts us firmly in contention with Chelsea and Leicester City as the top-four battle becomes fiercer.
