Manchester United Peter Schmeichel has questioned the club’s decision to sell defender Jonny Evans several years ago.
According to the United legend, Evans is a quality player and should never have been sold by Manchester United.
Evans spent over a decade at Old Trafford, first as an academy player and then as a first-team star. He made over 200 appearances and helped the club win three Premier League titles.
The Northern Ireland international’s Manchester United career came to an end in the summer of 2015 when then-manager Louis van Gaal sold him to West Brom.
Evans spent three years at the Hawthorns before joining Leicester City in 2018 and has became a key player in Brendan Rodgers’ impressive Foxes side, who are currently third in the Premier League table.
Schmeichel questioned his departure from Old Trafford after his impressive display in Leicester City’s win over Crystal Palace at the weekend.
“I’m also watching Leicester and even though I love the fact that he is playing in the same team as my son, I can’t understand why Manchester United sold a quality player like Johnny Evans,” Schmeichel tweeted.
