According to reports, Manchester United are interested in signing Real Madrid player James Rodriguez in a cut-price deal worth €25 million (£22.5m).
According to Spanish publication Marca, with just a year left on his contract, Los Blancos are desperate sell him for a bargain fee this summer.
The report also claim that the Colombian is eager to leave the Bernabeu. Arsenal, Everton and Wolves are also interested in signing the Colombian international.
James is said to have been on the brink of a move to Atletico Madrid last summer, but Real Madrid pulled out of the deal as they did not want to sell to their bitter rivals.
The attacking midfielder earns €7 million (£6.3m) at Madrid and offloading him would help the Spanish club ease their financial worries.
James recently admitted that he previously turned down the opportunity to play for United before he made the switch from Porto to Monaco in 2013.
“Yes I think there was some kind of talk there. My manager has a great relationship with the club, his name is Jorge Mendes,” James told Rio Ferdinand’s ‘The Locker Room’.
“Well, we always dream of getting in a big club. Since I was a child I always admired Manchester, I always saw those teams with Rio together with Giggs and Scholes, there were a lot of prodigious players and I wanted to get there in that year. But it didn’t happen.
“I thought I had to play for a club that wasn’t so big. From there I went to France just before the World Cup and my plan was to go to the World Cup have a great participation there, score goals, reach a good level and from there play for a big club and then the Real Madrid thing happened.”
