Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand is almost certain Bruno Fernandes’s arrival at Old Trafford has injected some life at the club and taken some burden off players like Paul Pogba.
There have been a weight of expectation surrounding Paul Pogba since his £89m move to Old Trafford, but it hasn’t really been smooth sailing for the World Cup winner, with criticisms coming almost every week based on his massive transfer fee.
However, Pogba has looked a different player since the resumption of the season, and Ferdinand has hailed the impact of Bruno Fernandes, as he admitted that the World Cup winner is looking every bit the £89m Manchester United paid for him.
Speaking to BT Sport after the 5-2 thrashing of Bournemouth, Ferdinand said: “Pogba has been a totally different player since the restart. The energy levels in his game, it’s the Pogba United paid £89m for four years ago.
“A big factor is undoubtedly the man he is playing with in the centre of midfield – Bruno Fernandes.
“Pogba will not want to be shown up out there and that’s perhaps the motivation he needed. Solskjaer will be absolutely loving what’s he seeing from those two.
“Fernandes is just doing what comes naturally to him and it’s been a huge boost to Pogba’s form – it’s freed him up to play as well.
“There’s probably less pressure on him now because he knows that some of the burden of expectation is being shouldered by Fernandes.”
Indeed, Bruno Fernandes has been a breath of fresh air at Old Trafford, and since his coming, there’s been more hunger from the rest of the team.
Paul Pogba, too, seems to be enjoying himself, and as recently reported by ESPN, perhaps, he feels more at home now and no longer considers leaving Old Trafford.
