Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has backed Manchester United to challenge Liverpool for the Premier League trophy next season.
Speaking to the BBC about the 2020/21 title race, the Newcastle United legend said: “Manchester City will still expect to put up more of a challenge to Liverpool in 2020-21.
“The same goes for Man United; I can see them getting closer next time. Chelsea too – they might still be a couple of players short of winning the league, but they are heading in the right direction.”
Shearer has previously claimed that the Red Devils are just three or four big-name signings away from turning into a genuine Premier League contenders.
However, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer himself has recently ruled out the possibility of challenging for the title next season as his rebuilding project continues.
