Manchester United legend Gary Neville has claimed the club needs just four more signings to become genuine Premier League title contenders.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the 3-0 win at Brighton on Tuesday, the Old Trafford hero said: “It’s a lot more likeable, this team, I was here two years ago where you just thought Man United’s recruitment policy had lost direction with the way they were approaching it.
“I would urge a word of caution. Man United are [fifth] in this league. They’ve got a squad that’s definitely improving, they’ve got a squad with young players but there’s still some work to do in the transfer market to get this team to a title-winning team, which has to be United’s ambition.
“Definitely a step in the right direction, some of the players are progressing, year-on-year, month-on-month, but there’s still a lot more needed. Three or four players of high-quality – the Bruno Fernandes type – that would get them to a point to start to challenge.”
The Red devils are now unbeaten in 15 games across all competitions as we look to secure a top-four spot.
