According to The Telegraph, Manchester City are preparing to hijack Manchester United’s move for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish this summer.

The report claims Manchester City will turn their attention to Grealish this summer should they receive their £50m-plus asking price for want-away winger Leroy Sane.

Aston Villa are reportedly not keen on selling the 24 year old whose contract runs until 2023 and will only consider offers of £80 million for their captain.

Should Aston Villa drop to the Championship, it is expected Grealish will push to leave his hometown club.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has previously declared he’s a big fan of the Aston Villa captain.

The Villa star has enjoyed his best-ever campaign for goals (nine) and assists (eight). Grealish, though, has cut a frustrated figure since Premier League action resumed with Villa picking up just two points from a possible 12 as relegation to the Championship looms with six games to go.
