Manchester United is reportedly monitoring the progress of Bruno Fernandes’ former teammate, Nuno Mendes, who is considered one of the best youngsters in the world at the moment.
According to Record, United is interested in the player, who has been a subject of interest for a while now. Apparently, we were close to signing Mendes in January, but had to pause things to wrap up the Bruno Fernandes deal.
Furthermore, the 19 year old left-back shares an agent with Fernandes, so that should make things a little easier.
There hasn’t been an official offer to Sporting just yet, but United is keen to wrap it up this summer.
Mendes has been in decent form for Sporting this season, having played for the Portuguese side 17 times already. He has also scored once, while assisting three times in the process.
If the move falls through for any reason, United will look in the direction of AS Monaco’s Fode Ballo-Toure, who was equally great for the French side before the end of the 2019/20 season.
