Former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has revealed why he chose Manchester United over Manchester City and Juventus In 2012
Despite receiving huge offers from both Manchester City and Juventus, the Dutch man opted to join United.
He has revealed that his admiration and positive feeling towards Sir Alex convinced him to move to the red half of Manchester.
Speaking to SoFoot on what inspired him to join the Red Devils, he said: “I had two other options [before signing for United in 2012], Juventus and Man City. At this point, it is a reflection that begins, you weigh up the pros and cons. I always had positive feelings towards Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United.”
The Dutch striker also revealed that he was warmly welcomed at United from the very first day despite the fact that he was an Arsenal player for many years.
“I felt welcome from the first day until the last [at United] even if for eight years I played at Arsenal, I had been their opponent. All the players I have mentioned [Ferdinand, Scholes etc], in particular, have tried to make me feel at home.”
The Former Netherlands International scored 58 goals and provided 21 assists in 108 appearances during his time at the club.
