Former Manchester United midfielder Jonathan Greening has urged Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the club to sign Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish as he is convinced the player would be good enough for the club.
The club have been linked with a move for Grealish who Greening believes can bring something special to the table.
Speaking to Metro, he explained: “Over the past few months there’s been talk of Grealish coming or Maddison coming. I actually feel I would prefer Jack Grealish.
“Maddison is a very good player, super technical, he can create, great passing both short and long, and great on set plays.
“Grealish, however, has that little bit of difference, he can take players on, he can drive forward with the ball, and slide that pass through.
“He’s got that bit of grit and determination; and doesn’t like losing, you can see that in his game. “
Greening is of the opinion that Grealish will be a better signing than Maddison. He feels the Leicester City playmaker is too similar to Bruno Fernandes.
He said: “Maddison is also maybe a bit too similar to Fernandes, whereas Jack Grealish will bring in something different, he can find pockets of space, he can drive at opponents and take on 2-3 players in one movement.
“He’d be a better player at United with the current squad than Maddison would be for me.”
The Villa captain has scored 7 goals and provided 6 assists this season, while Maddison has scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists for Leicester City.
