There appears to be a new twist in the club’s plan to sign striker Odion Ighalo.

According to report from Sky Sports, Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua are preparing to offer a two-year contract extension worth more than £400,000 per week to the Nigeria International in a bid to prevent the 30-year-old from joining United permanently in the summer.

The Nigerian moved to the club on loan in January with his current deal to expire on May 31.

Manchester United are willing to keep Ighalo beyond the summer as confirmed by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It remains to be seen whether the Nigerian will choose to return to the Chinese side or stay at United.
