Ighalo’s move to Old Trafford on a permanent basis is now nearing completion, as we understand that Shanghai Shenhua is now close to signing a replacement for him.
Ighalo joined United on a six-month load deal in January, and is expected to leave by the end of May, but both United and the player are working to extend the deal and make things permanent.
The only stumbling block was Shanghai Shenhua’s inability to replace Ighalo, who was very good in front of goal, prior to his transfer to England, but that challenge now appears sorted, with reports saying the Chinese club are set to turn to Obafemi Martins.
Obafemi Martins played for Shenhua between 2016 and 2019 before exiting on a free transfer, but will likely be returning to the club before the end of the summer transfer window.
Ighalo, on his side, is already in discussion with United to extend his stay at Old Trafford, with reports saying he’s willing to take a 50 percent cut on his £300,000 a week salary to see the move happen.
