Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, has opened up on the type of diet his former colleague, Cristiano Ronaldo, liked to be on during his days at United.
Ronaldo signed for Real Madrid in 2009, but before he went there, he was at United where he gained popularity and was named as the best player in the world.
Rooney says that while at United, Cristiano Ronaldo who was much more skinnier then, requested to be taken to McDonald’s often, as he liked to eat burgers a lot, in a bid to change his appearance and look more buff.
Speaking to The Times, Rooney said: “With Cristiano, when I first got to United we used to go to games and training together. I remember the night before a game stopping off at McDonald’s because he wanted a Big Mac.
“He was trying to put weight on because he was so thin. I was driving the car, having to go through the drive-through to get him a Big Mac.”
Ronaldo and Rooney were instrumental to the successes of Sir Alex Ferguson at United, with the pair helping us to three league titles.
Ronaldo spent 9 years at Madrid before joining Juventus, where he’s also achieving monumental success.
Rooney on his part, recently returned to England, as a Derby County player, after a brief stint in the MLS. He is the record holder for the most goals for both United and the English national team.
