Midfielder Nemanja Matic has spoken out on the uncertainty with regards to his future at the club. The Serbian is keen to stay at the club despite no offer coming from the club yet.
“That’s football! I’m now fit, happy and playing. Everything is okay at the moment,” he said, as quoted by the Mirror.
“I knew that in football things can turn. I didn’t know when my time was going to come but I knew I would have some chance to play and my job is to give my best.
“That is exactly what I am doing and even if you don’t play you always need to be focused.”
“Even when you’re younger, you need to realise your time can come and when you get the chance, you have to use it. It is exactly the same for me. It’s the same for players at every age,” Matic added.
“Of course, it’s much easier when you play all the time. When you are in good form, it is easier, you have more confidence, you are used to playing games every week or every three or four days.
“But when you don’t always play, maybe once in a month, it’s much harder.”
The 31-year-old is out of contract in the summer, although the club have an option to extend the midfielder’s stay at the club by another 12 months but are yet to trigger that clause.
