Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has spoken out on his direct competition with Brandon Williams at left-back, and has also revealed that the two of them can even play together.
Both players actually played together against Chelsea with Shaw playing as left-sided central defender, while Williams played as left-wingback.
Speaking to MUTV after the 3-0 win against Watford, the 24-year-old Shaw said:
“Brandon Williams has been doing amazing when he’s been playing.
“He’s a wonderful talent as well. Ole’s got positions to pick, me and Brandon can play together at the same time, which I’ve really enjoyed doing when we have played.
“I think it’s nice for the manager to be able to play me in two different positions. Wherever the manager wants me to play, I’ll play for him and the team.
“But of course we all love competition and we all love to push each other and I’ll help him as much as he can to develop into a great player that he can do.”
Shaw has been playing in a back three alongside Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof recently, with Williams slotted at left-back.
