Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has urged for improvement in team-play in the area of ball possession, despite winning 2-0 at Chelsea in the Premier League on Monday night.
The club closed the gap to top four by beating the Blues, who currently sit in fourth place. Goals from Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire gave us the victory and puts us within three points of Frank Lampard’s side as the battle for the Champions League place heats up.
New signing Fernandes was delighted with the three points, but has highlighted where the team need to really improve, and where he thought Chelsea were much better.
“I feel great, I’m really happy in a difficult game,” said Fernandes after the win in west London.
“We needed to win and we can do much better with the ball. Chelsea are really good with the ball.
“I feel good. I play for the biggest club in England, it’s a dream come true.”
We may have won the game, but finished with just 39% possession. The formation was clearly effective, but we just couldn’t keep hold of the ball for long periods.
The club is now in seventh place on the table after the victory.
