Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been picked in the BBC Team of the Week after our win at Chelsea on Monday.
The young right-back was outstanding against the Blues and was defensively solid as he frustrated Willian. Going forward, he also beat the Brazilian to produce a fantastic cross for Anthony Martial to score the opener.
Reflecting on his right-back’s performance, Garth Crooks said: “If ever a game was full of errors by the officials, then Chelsea vs Manchester United was it. Should Harry Maguire have been on the pitch?
“Not in my book and that’s the reason he’s not in my team of the week. And why Fred wasn’t judged to have pushed Cesar Azpilicueta, who in turn pushed Brandon Williams, when Chelsea’s goal was disallowed I will never know.
“The only speck of genuine quality in an otherwise ordinary match was Wan-Bissaka’s wonderful cross for Anthony Martial to score. Wan-Bissaka was also responsible for the most fantastic block on Pedro. The former Palace defender is starting to look a much better player with the ball at his feet.”
Wan-Bissaka has established himself as a key player at Old Trafford following his summer move for Crystal Palace, with the 22-year-old’s marauding runs forward receiving special praise.
