Club captain Harry Maguire has revealed a weakness in our defence. The club-record signing has pointed to our approach to defending set-plays this season as a major issue that needs to be improved.
Despite keeping a clean sheet in each of our last three matches. The England International is of the opinion that the team must improve in the basics of defending set-plays.
“We’re keeping a lot more clean sheets than we were at the start of season and we’ve never really been a team which has conceded a lot of chances,” Maguire told the Manchester United official website.
“We’ve been poor from set-plays with our defending and we’ve had a couple of great goals scored against us from outside the box, but we haven’t really been having games where David [De Gea] has had to make five or six saves, apart from maybe the Carabao Cup second leg against [Manchester] City, when David was brilliant.”
The team will need to be good defensively as we go into the season finale in order to boost our chances of a top-four finish.
