It was a very poor performance by Manchester United at the St James Park, as Manchester United were beaten 1-0 away from home.
The defeat has taken Manchester United to 12th in the league and just two points off the drop zone in what’s looking like an awful season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United manager.
Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has hailed only one United player in the defeat at the St James Park.
Young Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe partnered Harry Maguire in central defence due to Victor Lindelof’s absence, and Hargreaves was impressed with the 21-year-old’s display.
“Think about the start of the game,” Hargreaves told Optus Sport.
“One position Juan Mata has never played at Manchester United on the left wing – he starts on the left wing.
“Everybody moans that he plays on the right, then he plays on the left for some reason.
“[Andreas] Perreira is a No.10, he plays on the right.
“You’ve got so many people in positions which aren’t even their own… Ashley Young was playing left-back.
“The only bright spark I’d say today was Tuanzebe. I thought he played really well. But the rest is so far off what you’d expect. I feel sorry for United fans because this will take a long time to fix.”
