During the summer transfer window, Manchester United were linked with a number of players, and recent revelations have revealed that a number of those transfer rumours were true.
One of such transfer rumours was a move for Jadon Sancho, and Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has revealed that Manchester United did make an approach to sign the young winger. According to Zorc, Dortmund weren’t willing to sell Sancho for any transfer fee.
“A hot topic right now is Sancho and Manchester United,” Zorc said on Inside Borussia Dortmund which can be viewed on Amazon Prime.
“Both his discussions with the club and mine with the consultants.
“A meeting did take place. Manchester United invited the consultant.
“But according to what I know, the consultant told the club that no matter how much money they offer, we won’t let him go this summer.
“But the player also has no intention of taking that step this summer.”
Manchester United were also interested in signing Juventus winger Douglas Costa during the summer transfer window but Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri refused to sell him.
The agent of the Brazilian, Giovanni Branchini has admitted that the rumours were true about United’s interest in Costa, but Sarri wasn’t keen to let him leave.
“I sincerely say that Allegri and Sarri have never thought of letting him go,” Costa’s agent Giovanni Branchini told the Daily Mail.
“The interest of Manchester United was strong, a club that has always been interested in the Brazilian.
“It was not the only club but in England it was certainly the most active team on the trail of Douglas Costa.”
