Manchester United winger Daniel James has won Manchester United’s Goal of the Month award for August, as his goal was voted for by supporters on the club’s Official App.
James scored a brilliant goal in the 1-1 draw against Southampton as he was United’s only scorer in the game.
In the 10th minute of the game, James picked up the ball on the left flank, and cut onto his favoured right foot and unleashed a bullet past the helpless Saints goalkeeper Angus Gunn.
The goal was one out of eight in the shortlist, but James won the award after winning 48 percent of the votes.
Spanish midfielder Juan Mata has expressed his delight at the form and contribution of new signing Daniel James who has bagged three goals in just four appearances.
“It was a very good goal, a fantastic finish. He’s a very hard-working player.
“He gave us a lot on the wing and even in the second half when everyone was a bit tired, he was still sprinting and giving very dangerous crosses.
“(I’m) very happy for him and hopefully he can do it many more times. Football is easier if you are that quick, right? He takes advantage of that.”
