Manchester United To Negotiate Contract Extension With Star Defender

Manchester United vs Leicester CitySeptember 14, 2019

According to reports from The Sun, the club are looking to start negotiations with Eric Bailly over a contract extension despite a horrible injury record.

The Ivorian earns £120,000-a-week at the club, and his current deal is due to expire next summer. The 25-year-old picked up the latest injury during a pre-season friendly. It will see him out of action for another lengthy spell.

The club still believe the centre-back has a future at Old Trafford, and is seen as a back-up option for a pair of Victor Lindelof /Harry Maguire.

The British tabloid reports that a source within the club has this to say:

“The club want Eric to stay and are looking for talks about an extension. We don’t want to lose him on a free transfer next summer. It’s just down to both parties agreeing to everything.

“His injury record isn’t a major concern for us. We just think he has been unlucky with everyone over the last few years. Ole is a fan of the player and we’re going to convince him to stay, at least that is the plan at present.”
