Reports from Sky Sports have revealed that the club’s efforts in signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes is being challenged by a Premier League rival.
According to the report, Tottenham are trying to win the race for the midfielder and are reportedly in talks with Sporting Lisbon over a potential move for the midfielder.
While Spurs’ representatives reportedly met with Sporting’s officials on Thursday, the London side are yet to submit an official offer for the 24-year-old.
Speaking about Fernandes’ future earlier this week, Sporting president Frederico Varandas said: “The most complicated thing to deal with is the unpredictability of the market.
“Bruno Fernandes is not a big concern for us. We knew that when the season ended he would be one of the most coveted players on the market.
“We have to empower the players. Some will go out, they will go out and others will come. There is a lot of interest, there are a lot of questions, but so far, officially, little.”
