Manchester United have been strongly linked with Leicester City defender Harry Maguire. For two consecutive summer transfer windows, the club has been linked with Maguire, but so far, the deal hasn’t been made.
Former Manchester United captain, Wayne Rooney has spoken out about the club’s reported interest in Leicester City defender, Harry Maguire.
The former striker is hoping the player is signed by the club, and would be happy to see the English defender at the club.
Rooney told ESPN: “I think Harry’s a good player and over the last few years he’s improved as a player. He’s gotten better, and he’s been a main player for Leicester City, but also for England. I think he’d be a good signing if they can get him.”
Maguire’s former teammate Michael Dawsom has urged Maguire to make the move to Manchester United.
“You’re thinking it will happen now because of the figures that are being banded around, you’re going to wonder how Leicester can turn that down,” Dawson told Sky Sports News.
“And one thing I would like to say is you’ve seen him play in all of the pre-season friendlies.
“You’ve seen some players trying to force moves by refusing to play.
“That’s one thing Harry has not done.
“When it does happen, which I do believe it will, because of the kind of figures and how can you stop a player like Harry, what he’s done for them, to go and play for a team like Manchester United, [it’s] a massive, massive football club.
“The figure that is being banded is incredible but rightly so after the few years he’s had at Leicester and obviously the World Cup he had last year.”
