Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, who scored the only goal of the game to give the club victory against Kristiansund by converting a last-minute penalty, spoke about the team’s improvement so far
Mata said on MUTV: “Pre-season is about fitness, we always say the same, even when we win. Today was tough, no injuries and incredible supporters in Scandinavia. Another step on our way to Chelsea [the first Premier League clash for United this season].
“We’ve been training quite hard for the first two and a half weak, physically tougher than last year. It’s good for Ole and his staff to have a full pre-season, we’ve had time to train on patterns and style he wants us to play. We have to do better than last season.”
“The atmosphere is good and the results are coming. We have very nice people in the dressing room, in every single training session we have to set high standards, that’s the only way to compete. Everyone is willing to perform well and be available for the coach. It’s a blessing to be at this club.”
