Forgotten fullback Matteo Darmain is attracting the interest of Spanish Champions, Barcelona.
The Catalan club are desperate to sign an experienced left-back who could potentially be a back-up option for Jordi Alba. The Spanish giants have been linked to several players including Real Betis’ Junior Firpo, Bayern Munich’s David Alaba and Augsburg’s Philipp Max.
Reports from ESPN FC have revealed that Barca consider Matteo Darmian to be a low-cost alternative to the aforementioned options. The 29-year-old is versatile in the fullback position as he can play at both left-back and right-back positions.
Last season, the Italian made only 7 appearances for the club in all competitions. Inter Milan had been linked with Darmian earlier this summer, but nothing concrete came out of it.
Darmian joined the Red Devils from Torino in an €18 million deal in the summer of 2015. Any potential move will need Barca to act swiftly before the English transfer window shuts down.
