European football expert and ESPN FC writer Gabriele Marcotti has urged Manchester United to sign another midfielder in order to avoid late disappointment, and the deadline day frenzy if Real Madrid offer a crazy deal for Paul Pogba.
Real Madrid are keen on signings Pogba, but United won’t sell the World Cup winner without an adequate replacement.
Here are the words of Marcotti who has urged United to sell the wantaway Frenchman.
“I said all along that Paul Pogba is not pushing or agitating for a move away from Manchester United.
“But if the opportunity arises and it makes sense for United, I don’t think he’d necessarily turn down an opportunity to join Real Madrid and be reunited with Zinedine Zidane and what not. But, all that said, this latest iteration of it sounds like panic in Madrid, panic among the Madrid media.”
“But I do think from United’s perspective, if they’re clever about it, they might want to do some of their business before the transfer window shuts here in England of course on August 9, obviously well before it shuts in Spain,” he added.
“Simply because you don’t want to be in a situation where Real Madrid rock up with some insane offer for Paul Pogba that you can’t turn down and you’re not prepared for it. So this could well play into it, the difference in the transfer window closing.”
