Manchester United defender Eric Bailly returned to Manchester with his knee heavily strapped and wearing a protective cast after he picked up a serious injury during Thursday’s pre-season 2-1 win over Spurs.
The defender has been plagued with injury in his three years with the club. He was stretchered off 10 minutes into the second half after he fell awkwardly, attempting to effect a slide tackle on Heung-Min Son.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given an update on his injury:
“It’s his knee,” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said. “We’ve just got to do some scans. It doesn’t look great but let’s see how it goes.”
Bailly’s injury will force the club to sign Leicester City defender Harry Maguire after Manchester United had been reluctant to meet Leicester City’s asking price for the England international.
Leicester City are demanding a £80m for Maguire, a world-record fee for a centre-back but Manchester United have been reluctant to match their asking price for the defender.
