Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged forward Anthony Martial to aspire to reach world class level. He has also said he expects big things from his attacker.
Speaking at a press conference, Solskjaer said: “Anthony can be a world class forward. I think if you followed Anthony the way he has come back to pre-season, his attitude is spot on.
“I think he has always got the quality and talent so I expect him and Marcus [Rashford] to be even better than last season. Anthony had a top season when he came, I expect we will see a better Anthony next season.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United youngster Angel Gomes has reacted to scoring his first Manchester United goal. The 18 year old forward scored the winner as Manchester United beat Tottenham 2-1 on Thursday.
Speaking after the final whistle, Gomes said: “I can’t describe it, I’ve seen it back now, I went and celebrated with the fans. Hopefully the first of many.
“I got a bit of stick, a few academy players have scored (Garner vs Perth and Greenwood vs Leeds and Inter) and I hadn’t so it was good to score in the last game.
“It shows what the club is trying to do, we’re trying to bring youth players through, the stats are amazing, we’re proud of that.
“We’ve had a great tour, the team has gelled well, we can’t wait for the season to get started.”
