Goals from Anthony Martial and Angel Gomes were enough for Manchester United to beat Tottenham 2-1 in United’s fourth pre-season game of the season.
United’s win over Spurs in the International Champions Cup was marred by bad news. The victory came with a price as defender Eric Bailly picked up an injury and was stretched off the pitch during the game against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Ivorian’s injury woes that has plagued his United career continued. The player is running out of time to prove his fitness to the club.
Speaking to MUTV after the match, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t sound very confident about Bailly’s chances after twisting his knee. Though the boss is waiting for scans before giving a date for his expected return.
Solskjær said after the game: “It seems as if he’s [Bailly] twisted his knee, we have to wait for some scans, at the time the first look didn’t look great.”
After the game, the defender was seen on crutches and this is bad news for the player. This puts the club on alert to sign a defensive cover before the start of the new season.
