Former Premier League player Nigel Reo-Coker has urged Manchester United to make his former teammate Ashley Young the new club captain.
The armband is up for grabs at Old Trafford after Antonio Valencia left club this summer to join LDU Quito in Ecuador.
The likes of Paul Pogba, David de Gea, Juan Mata and Victor Lindelof have all been mentioned as potential club captains, but Reo-Coker feels Young has done well to deserve it.
“I think that he should definitely be named captain, he’s done well,” Reo-Coker said
“I think what United fans need to understand and be realistic with is that they’re not the Man Utd of old, it’s a time for a change and the changing of the guard.
“I know Youngy is very passionate about winning and he’s always been a winner from times at Aston Villa and even times at Watford and I think that’s the type of character that you need.”
