Manchester United legend Nicky Butt has been given a new appointment of Head of First Team Development position.
His job will be to be the link between the academy players and the first team. He will be expected to report directly to manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Butt will be in charge of easing the likes of James Garner and Mason Greenwood into the senior side.
Butt, a United player between 1992 and 2004, will continue to contribute to the Academy on key issues, but will not be necessarily involved in transfer dealings.
More so, Nick Cox has been promoted as Head of Academy to replace Butt having worked in the same capacity previously at Sheffield United.
This is all part of the club’s place to carry out internal restructuring.
According to reports, the position of Technical Director is still under consideration.
Recent delays and struggles in the transfer market is a key reason to appointing a Technical director.
