Reports have revealed that Manchester United remain are still working out on plans to modernise their internal structures. The latest change has seen Nicky Butt promoted from Head of Academy to the position of Head of First Team Development position.
According to reports, the position of Technical Director is still under consideration.
Recent delays and struggles in the transfer market is a key reason to appointing a Technical director.
Legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has also shared his thoughts on this issue while also advising the club to model Bayern Munich:
“They’re a great club. It’s a club run in the proper foundation of it,” Ferguson told MUTV prior to Sunday’s Treble Reunion game, which United won 5-0 at Old Trafford.
“Former players who run it really, Uli Hoeness and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, they run the club in the right way and they are always winning the league in Germany. They’re a great club.”
The likes of Rio Ferdinand, Darren Fletcher, Edwin Van Der Sar have been mentioned as contenders for United’s technical director role. Apparently, Woodward’s idea is to favour former players.
