Manchester United young goalkeeper Dean Henderson is close to agreeing a new long-term deal at the club before going out on a loan return to Sheffield United.
The club had held positive discussions over an improved contract to tie down the highly-rated goalkeeper. His current United deal has just one year left to run.
Part of the negotiations about a new deal have centred on Henderson being allowed to go out on loan once more, this time to a Premier League club, to continue his brilliant development. The 22-year-old Henderson is viewed as a future Old Trafford No 1.
The player joined the club’s preseason tour and will join Sheffield United before the start of the new season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explained the reason for this decision:
“Well, at the moment he’s back in England training. He had a 10-day break after he trained for us their first week, he needed a break after the Under-21s.
“Of course, we’re debating whether he should travel and come with us or stay and train in England. I thought maybe it was best for him to come here.”
