Manchester United are reportedly hoping to unveil the £70 million signing of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes after the Nations League final.
According to Portuguese media outlet A Bola via The Sun, Manchester United have beaten rivals Manchester City to the signing of the 24 year old midfielder.
The report claims Manchester United have requested a meeting with Sporting as they look to wrap up a deal to bring the player to Old Trafford as soon as possible.
Fernandes, dubbed the Portuguese Frank Lampard, enjoyed a brilliant season for Sporting during the 2018/19 campaign – chipping in with 32 goals and 18 assists in 53 games.
Fernandes revealed last month that he wants to play in the Premier League.
Fernandes said: “If an irrefutable proposal for me arrives, and it’s good for the club, let’s get together and decide together.
“I always said that I was an ambitious player and from a very early age I have had a dream of playing in England, where you can live pure football without big controversy, without big cases.”
The 24 year old is currently with the Portuguese national team and will be looking to inspire Portugal to Nations League glory on Sunday with his side to face either England or Holland in the final.
