Football legend Zinedine Zidane did great as Real Madrid boss to win nine titles as Madrid coach, including three Champions League titles, one Spanish league title, one Spanish Super Cup, two UEFA Super Cups and two Club World Cups.
Zidane has been regularly linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past two years as Jose Mourinho has struggled to take the club back to its former heights.
United’s stuttering start to the season has seen them struggle to win games and are 18 points behind league leaders Manchester City and eight points outside of the top four.
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has questioned whether Zidane would succeed at the club and doesn’t think he can perform better than Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
Speaking about the speculation over Mourinho’s future and the links with Zidane, Scholes told BT Sport: “Is Zidane the right man though? He went in to Real Madrid who had a group of ready-made winners already.
“This is a totally different job he would have to be rebuild confidence with a squad that isn’t quite performing.
He went to Real Madrid with so many great players, it was still difficult but, this would be a whole rebuilding job.”
Scholes doesn’t think Mourinho should be sacked, and Rio Ferdinand doesn’t believe there’s a ready-made replacement for the Portuguese.
The former Manchester United defender said: “I don’t know it’s a difficult question that, is there a ready-made replacement out there that they can go and get immediately?
“You can’t just make a knee-jerk decision and then decide who to get in after there needs to be that process lined up and ready.”
