Anthony Martial has been recalled to the France squad for their games against Holland and Uruguay following his return to form for Manchester United.

Martial’s last appearance for France came in their friendly win against Russia in March and he failed to make the France World Cup squad.

Martial’s future had seemed away from Manchester United after he left United’s summer tour in USA abruptly to fly back to Paris for the birth of his son Swan, a move which angered Jose Mourinho.

The 22-year-old also revealed through his agent during the summer that he wanted a move away from Manchester United after failing to win Jose Mourinho’s trust last season.

Martial ended up staying at Manchester United, despite Mourinho open to him leaving and talks are now ongoing between the club and Martial over a new contract.

His relationship with Mourinho has also improved with the United boss praising him from the touchline for his workrate in the 2-2 draw at Chelsea, when Martial scored twice.

Martial has now become a key player for Manchester United, a scenario that seemed unlikely after his summer fallout with Mourinho and he has repaid Mourinho’s trust in him by scoring five goals in his last six games for Manchester United.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba was also named in the France squad.
