Fifteen years after signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing another Ronaldo.
Manchester United and Barcelona are in a battle to sign Benfica’s 15-year-old wonderkid Ronaldo Camara, according to Portuguese newspaper Record via Daily Mail.
Chelsea and Manchester City were in the running to sign the highly-rated teenager a few months ago but Manchester United and Barcelona now lead the race to sign the 15-year-old wonderkid.
The 15-year-old attacking midfielder, who plays for Portugal’s Under-17 team two years early, made his first appearance for Portugal’s U17 age group at just 14.
Yet to make his senior debut for Benfica, Camara made his debut in the Under-19 UEFA Youth League competition late last month, coming off the bench to play 24 minutes in Benfica’s 3-0 loss to Ajax.
The 15-year-old started his career at Sporting Lisbon in 2012 before joining rivals Benfica three years later.
Camara is rated highly in Portugal and stood out at January’s ALKASS International Cup in Qatar despite being two years younger than most of his team-mates.
Camara is under contract at Benfica until 2020.
