Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford came off the bench to score a 92nd winner as Manchester United beat Bournemouth 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand wants Rashford to start more games for Manchester United.
“This is a great talent who needs to be nurtured,” Ferdinand told the Premier League Show.
“Jose Mourinho has given him opportunities, he’s played many, many minutes.
“But I believe he’s at an age now where he’ll be sitting there and if he’s not starting, he’ll be disappointed.
“He’s gone from being that player that’s been brought in to the squad, who’s happy to come off the bench and make an impact.
“He’s now at a place where in his mind he’s saying ‘I should be starting here’ and when he doesn’t that’s a deflator.
“I think he’s good enough to start.”
It remains to be seen whether Jose Mourinho agrees with Ferdinand after Mourinho criticized Rashford for not scoring before his 92nd winner against Bournemouth.
“I was very upset with him before that,” Mourinho said.
“I was upset with the chance he missed. He has to smash it and take everything in the goal.
“I was also upset because I think he has to win that run with Nathan Ake.
“But, of course, then he scores the winning goal and that’s amazing for him and us.”
