DAVID DE GEA AND ANTHONY MARTIAL ARE REFUSING TO SIGN NEW CONTRACTS BECAUSE OF ALEXIS SANCHEZ

Manchester United are struggling to agree new contracts with David De Gea and Anthony Martial because of Alexis Sanchez’s massive wages, according to the Mirror.

Sanchez is on a basic salary of £350,000 per week at United and also receives a £75,000 bonus for each appearance that he makes.

The report claims the agents of Martial and De Gea are using Sanchez’s wages as a guide during negotiations over new contracts.

With Sanchez earning £350,000 per week, De Gea reportedly believes he should earn £300,000 per week, given he is now widely regarded as the best goalkeeper in the world.

De Gea currently earns £175,000 per week and his current runs out at the end of the season but Manchester United have the option of triggering a clause in his contract which would extend it until the summer of 2020.

Martial, meanwhile, currently earns £70,000 per week with Manchester United willing to double his wages but have been unable to reach an agreement with Martial based on those terms.

Martial recently rejected United’s latest contract offer.

Like De Gea, Martial’s contract expires at the end of the season but Manchester United have an option of extending his contract until the summer of 2020.
