Manchester United forward Anthony Martial was in brilliant form as United got a 2-1 victory over Everton at Old Trafford.
Martial has now scored four goals in his last three Premier League outings, and the 22-year-old brought about the penalty that was converted by Paul Pogba in the first half.
Martial was deservedly voted as the man of the match and it isn’t hard to see why. He had more duels than any other United player (11) and also had more key passes (four) than the rest. All three of his shots were on target and he could have scored more than one had it not been the heroics of Jordan Pickford.
Speaking after the game, Martial admitted that he’s in good form and has worked hard to get to this level.
Martial told Sky Sports: “I am happy. I am in good form in this moment, so I have to train hard and continue to help the team.”
Mourinho was also impressed with Martial and said after the game: “I think he has the same natural talent that he had one year ago, two years ago, but he’s improving his way of thinking football, thinking training too and thinking his role in the team, so I’m really, really happy with him.
“And with Luke Shaw, with boys that are improving and difficult periods for them, difficult periods for myself, because I want more from them and I took them to the limit. But in this moment I think both of them and in today’s case, Anthony, he was able to do things that he was not able to do before, so I’m really, really happy with Anthony.”
