Manchester United forward Anthony Martial rejected Manchester United’s latest contract offer, and the 22-year-old’s current contract expires in the summer of 2019 but the club have an option of extending it to 2020.
Gary Neville has revealed that Martial could be hoping to get higher wages like some of his teammates who are earning higher wages, and that could be the reason the 22-year-old turned down the contract offer.
“‘I’m not surprised he’s turned down a new deal,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“I think it’s probably the general answer of everybody that gets offered a new contract nowadays, that they turn a new one down.
“He probably wants the same level of money some of the other players in the squad are on, he is probably looking at his options externally. From that point of view, at this moment in time, it doesn’t surprise me at all that he’s turned it down.”
Martial has been in form in recent times and has scored three times in his last two Premier League appearances for Manchester United.
