Luke Shaw revealed after Manchester United’s loss to Juventus that the Red Devils United gave Juventus too much respect and let them play far too easy.
Speaking after the defeat to Juventus, Shaw said: “I think first half we gave them too much respect and we let them play far too easy. Second half we tried and like other games we pushed more in the second half.
“At times today we didn’t create too many clear-cut chances. I think first half they had way too much time on the ball and we expected it.
“We should have pressed higher and been more aggressive and that cost us with the goal.”
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho doesn’t agree with Shaw that the Red Devils gave Juventus too much respect.
Asked if his United side showed too much respect to Juventus, Mourinho said: “I don’t think so. I tried not to. With the team we played it was to let the boys feel positive and take the positive feeling from our match at Stamford Bridge.
“But Juventus is a different level of quality, I have to be honest. A level of quality, stability, experience, know how. The base of the team they have Bonucci and Chiellini.
“That’s the base that allows them to play with the freedom in attack. ‘Lose the ball, no problem, we are here’.
“We could deserve a goal for the effort of the boys but it was not possible. I have no complaints with my boys. I have a positive feeling for their effort.”
