MANCHESTER UNITED TARGET YET TO AGREE NEW INTER MILAN CONTRACT. HE MIGHT BE WAITING FOR MANCHESTER UNITED TO MAKE A MOVE

Inter defender Milan Skriniar

Manchester United target Milan Skriniar is has failed to sign a new contract with Italian side Inter Milan according to Italian media outlet CalcioMercato.

Talks between the Slovakian defender and Inter Milan reportedly stalled around three months ago and Inter Milan have failed to make any progress since.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has made it clear this season that he wants defensive signings and United have failed to look convincing in defence.

Inter Milan reportedly rejected a bid from Manchester United for the 23-year-old defender and it is yet to be seen if United would try to sign him again during the January transfer window.

Skriniar recently admitted he is flattered by transfer interest from Manchester United but also insisted his focus remains on Inter Milan.

“When some coach like Jose says that he is looking for a player like me or somebody else, it’s always nice, but I don’t know why these rumours continue,” Skriniar told ESPN FC. “I’ve not said anything to anybody, just what you can see on the web.

“Even if Jose is one of the most famous, best, greatest coaches in the world, it’s not something I think of because I’m playing for Inter and am happy here at Inter.

“I’m happy in Milan, it’s a great city, even when my parents or friends come here, we have a look around and I’m happy here and relaxed here. When the results are going well too, it’s all even better.”
