The 2-2 draw between Manchester United and Chelsea was full of drama, and a melee erupted after Ross Barkley’s late equaliser as one of Maurizio Sarri’s coaches Marco Ianni incensed Mourinho when he celebrated in his face following the equaliser.
Mourinho revealed after the game that Sarri came and apologised to him and he accepted his apology.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho insisted that the matter has been resolved.
He said: “I’m not annoyed with anything. What happened with Sarri’s assistant and Sarri was the first person to come to me and say he would resolve the problem internally with him.
“After that the assistant came to my office and apologised to me. I immediately accept the apology if he means it. I said forget it, because I make mistakes too.
“Forget it, it’s over. He apologised and it’s over.”
However, former Manchester United defender Phil Neville doesn’t believe the apology is enough and says Sarri should sack Ianni.
“Whoever that staff member is of Chelsea has just been an absolute disgrace. No class, no humility.
“He’s gone straight into the face of Jose Mourinho, Michael Carrick and the Manchester United bench and just celebrated in their face. Absolutely disgraceful.
“He’s [Mourinho] the innocent one in all this. The guy on the Chelsea bench has run straight past him, celebrated in his face.
“Sarri celebrates. Then it’s this guy here who goes in front of Jose Mourinho. The first one he clenches his fist, and then as he goes back he celebrates again right in front of him. Disgraceful.
“If I was Maurizio Sarri I’d send that guy in and sack him from the club.”
