Juventus midfielder Emre Can is set to miss the Champions League clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
The former Liverpool midfielder has a thyroid problem and a statement released by Juventus claim it could require surgery.
A statement from the club said: “Emre Can will undergo clinical tests and investigations for a thyroid nodule that could also require surgical treatment.”
Meanwhile, the visit of Juventus to Old Trafford on Tuesday will see former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo return to Old Trafford.
Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri insists Ronaldo is calm ahead of the visit to Old Trafford.
“Ronaldo, he’s very calm, he’s focused,” Allegri said.
“He’s a champion in the field and mentally, he wants to score and to do well.”
Since making the switch to Juventus, Ronaldo has scored five times in ten games. The Portuguese international has added assists to his game this season, providing four assists already, one fewer than he managed for Real in the whole of last campaign.
Allegri has been impressed with Ronaldo’s impact since joining Real Madrid.
“He’s been very humble and has brought even more focus and a sense of responsibility to the team,” Allegri said.
“Besides scoring goals, which he does best, he’s also great at providing assists.”
